Using Simple past tense and Present continuous tense.	Simple Past tense ಮತ್ತು Past continuous tense ನ ಬಳಕೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು
Hello Riya, how are you?	ಹಲೋ ರಿಯಾ, ನೀನು ಹೇಗಿದ್ದೀಯ?
Hello Anuj, I am fine.	ಹಲೋ ಅನುಜ್, ನಾನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
Where were you yesterday?	ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದೆ?
I was at a friend’s house.	ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಗೆಳತಿಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೆ.
I called up your house yesterday.	ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಫೋನ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೆ.
I was on the way when you were calling me.	ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಕರೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ನಾನು ಮಾರ್ಗ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೆ.
Why didn’t you call me on my mobile?	ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಮೊಬೈಲ್‍ಗೆ ಏಕೆ ಕರೆ ಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ?
I forgot your mobile number.	ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ನಂಬರ್ ಅನ್ನು ಮರೆತಿದ್ದೆ.
What were you doing at your friend’s house?	ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಗೆಳೆಯನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ?
We were watching the new ‘Harry Potter’ movie together.	ನಾವು ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ 'ಹ್ಯಾರಿ ಪೋರ್ಟರ್' ಮೂವಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು.
We also played cricket in his garden.	ನಾವು ಗಾರ್ಡನ್‍ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಅನ್ನು ಸಹ ಆಡಿದರು.
Did you enjoy the movie and the cricket?	ನೀನು ಮೂವಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಅನ್ನು ಆನಂದಿಸಿದಿರೇ?
The movie was very good.	ಮೂವಿ ಅತ್ಯತ್ತಮವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
But I didn’t enjoy playing cricket.	ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಆಡುವುದನ್ನು ಆನಂದಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
Why?	ಏಕೆ?
It started to rain when we were playing.	ನಾವು ಆಡುವಾಗ ಮಳೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು.
Ok. But I am happy that you liked the movie.	ಸರಿ. ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ಮೂವಿಯನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಸಂತೋಷಪಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.
Yes, it was also the last movie of this series.	ಹೌದು, ಇದು ಈ ಸರಣಿಯ ಅಂತಿಮ ಮೂವಿಯೂ ಆಗಿತ್ತು.
I watched this movie last week and liked it a lot.	ನಾನು ಈ ಮೂವಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದ ವಾರ ನೋಡಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇದನ್ನು ನಾನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಇಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟೆ.
UNDERSTANDING CONCEPTS	ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು
In the previous conversation, you heard sentences from both the Simple Past Tense and Past Continuous Tense.	ಹಿಂದಿನ ಮಾತುಕತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ನೀವು Simple Past Tense ಮತ್ತು Past Continuous Tense ಎರಡರಿಂದಲೂ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
Simple Past Tense is used to talk about  those actions that happened in the past.	ಭೂತಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು Simple Past Tense ಅನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
Past Continuous is used to talk about those actions that were in progress in the past.	ಭೂತಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ Past Continuous ಅನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
When we use these two forms in the same sentence, we use:	ನಾವು ಒಂದೇ ವಾಕ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಎರಡೂ ರೂಪಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸಿದಾಗ, ನಾವು ಇದನ್ನು ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ:
Past Continuous:  to talk about actions that were in progress in the past.	Past Continuou: ಭೂತಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕಾರ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು.
and	ಮತ್ತು
Past Simple :    to talk about action that were completed in the past.	Past Simple: ಭೂತಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡ ಕಾರ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು
Difference between  Simple Past & Past Continuous	Simple Past Tense ಮತ್ತು Past Continuous Tense ನಡುವಿನ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ
action that happened in the past	ಕ್ರಿಯೆಯು ಭೂತಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
action that was in progress in the past	ಕ್ರಿಯೆಯು ಭೂತಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
I played football.	ನಾನು ಫುಟ್‍ಬಾಲ್ ಆಡಿರುವೆ.
I was playing football.	ನಾನು ಫುಟ್‍ಬಾಲ್ ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ.
I was playing football when it started to rain.	ಮಳೆ ಆರಂಭವಾದಾಗ ನಾನು ಫುಟ್‍ಬಾಲ್ ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ.
They came home.	ಅವರು ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು.
They were coming home.	ಅವರು ಮನೆಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
I was watching a movie when you came home.	ನೀನು ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ನಾನು ಒಂದು ಮೂವಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ.
He met her.	ಅವನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿಯಾದನು.
He was meeting her.	ಅವನು ಅವಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತುಕತೆ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು.
I was taking shower when you called me.	ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಫೋನ್ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ನಾನು ಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ.
I bought a watch yesterday	ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನೆ ಒಂದು ಕೈ ಗಡಿಯಾರವನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಿದೆನು.
She was at her friend's house.	ಅವಳು ಅವಳ ಗೆಳತಿಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಳು.
She was reading a poem.	ಅವಳು ಪದ್ಯವನ್ನು ಓದುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು.
I was writing a letter.	ನಾನು ಕಾಗದವನ್ನು ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ.
He/ she taught me to speak English.	ಅವನು/ಅವಳು ನನಗೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು ಕಲಿಸಿದರು.
I was busy.	ನಾನು ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರತನಾಗಿದ್ದೆ.
I was there.	ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೆ.
They stayed in the hotel.	ಅವರು ಹೋಟೆಲ್‍ನಲ್ಲಿ ತಂಗಿದ್ದರು.
They were staying in the hotel.	ಅವರು ಹೋಟೆಲ್‍ನಲ್ಲಿ ತಂಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
They were playing in the park.	ಅವರು ಪಾರ್ಕ್‍ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
