To ask questions using the present perfect tense.

In this lesson, we will learn

  • To make positive and negative statements using the present perfect tense.
  • To ask questions using the present perfect tense.
In the Present Perfect tense, the action is complete or has ended.
For example:
She has finished the work.
He has eaten lunch.

The exact time when the action happened is not important and hence, it is not mentioned in this tense.
Subject HAVE Verb(past participle) Rest of the sentence I have seen this movie. You have seen this movie. We have seen this movie. They have seen this movie. Manoj and I have seenthis movie. Mohan and Neha have seen this movie.In these sentences, the action (seen) has completed.
With ‘I’, ‘You’, ‘We’, ‘They’ and more than one person, we use ‘have ’ + verb (in past participle form).
Subject HAS Verb(past participle) Rest of the sentence He has seen this movie. She has seen this movie. Mohan has seen this movie. Pooja has seen this movie.In these sentences, the action (seen) has completed.
With ‘He’, ‘She’, ‘It’ and any other person, we use ‘has ’ + verb (in past participle form).

Subject HAS NOT Verb(past participle) Rest of the sentence He has not finished the work. She has not finished the work. Mohan has not finished the work. Pooja has not finished the work.In these sentences, the action (finished) has not completed.
With ‘He’, ‘She’, ‘It’ and any other person, we use ‘has not ’ + verb (in past participle form).We can also use ‘hasn’t’ in place of ‘has not’.

With ‘I’, ‘You’, ‘We’, ‘They’ and more than one person, we use ‘have ’to form questions.
HAS SUBJECT Verb(past participle) Rest of the sentence Has he met the new teacher? Has Manoj met the new teacher? Has Pooja met the new teacher? Has she met the new teacher?These questions are used to ask if the action (met) has completed.
With ‘He’, ‘She’ or any other Person, we use ‘has’to form questions.
