In this lesson, we will learn

  • To make sentences in the simple past using irregular verbs.

Irregular Verbs are those verbs whose past form is not formed by adding
'–ed' to the base form.

For example:eat ate wake woke 
We use the same past form for all subjects in the simple past tense.
For example:ate, We ate, He ate, They ate
woke, We woke, She woke, They woke

Verb ‘To be’ is an irregular verb. Notice that we use ‘was’ and ‘were’ in the simple past.

PRESENT TENSE SIMPLE PAST I am happy. was happy. You are happy. You were happy. He is happy. He was happy. She is happy. She was happy. Pooja is happy. Pooja was happy.We are happy. We were happy. They are happy. They were happy. Mohan and I are happy. Mohan and I were happy.

Verb ‘To do’ is an irregular verb. Notice that we use 'did' in the simple past.
