Using Simple past tense and Present continuous tense.	Simple past tense and Present continuous tense ஐப் பயன்படுத்துதல்.
Hello Riya, how are you?	ஹலோ ரியா, நீங்கள் எப்படி இருக்கிறீர்கள்?
Hello Anuj, I am fine.	ஹலோ அனுஜ், நான் நன்றாக இருக்கிறேன்.
Where were you yesterday?	நீங்கள் நேற்று எங்கே இருந்தீர்கள்?
I was at a friend’s house.	நான் ஓர் நண்பனின் வீட்டில் இருந்தேன்.
I called up your house yesterday.	நேற்று நான் உனது வீட்டிற்கு தொலைபேசி செய்திருந்தேன்.
I was on the way when you were calling me.	நீங்கள் என்னை அழைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்த போது நான் அங்கே சென்று கொண்டிருந்தேன்.
Why didn’t you call me on my mobile?	நீங்கள் ஏன் எனது மொபைலிற்கு அழைக்கவில்லை?
I forgot your mobile number.	நான் உனது மொபைல் நம்பரை மறந்துவிட்டேன்.
What were you doing at your friend’s house?	நீங்கள் உங்களது நண்பனின் வீட்டில் என்ன செய்து கொண்டிருந்தீர்கள்?
We were watching the new ‘Harry Potter’ movie together.	நாங்கள் புதிய 'ஹாரி பாட்டர்' மூவியினை ஒன்றாகப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தோம்.
We also played cricket in his garden.	நாங்கள் அவரது தோட்டத்தில் கிரிக்கெட்டும் விளையாடினோம்.
Did you enjoy the movie and the cricket?	மூவி மற்றும் கிரிக்கெட்டினை நீங்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் அனுபவித்தீர்களா?
The movie was very good.	மூவி மிகவும் நன்றாக இருந்தது.
But I didn’t enjoy playing cricket.	ஆனால், நான் கிரிக்கெட் விளையாடுவதை அனுபவிக்கவில்லை.
Why?	ஏன்?
It started to rain when we were playing.	நாங்கள் விளையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்த போது மழை பெய்ய ஆரம்பித்து விட்டது.
Ok. But I am happy that you liked the movie.	சரி. ஆனால் உங்களுக்கு அந்த மூவி பிடித்திருக்கின்றது என்பதைக் குறித்து நான் மகிழ்கிறேன்.
Yes, it was also the last movie of this series.	ஆம், அதுதான் அந்த வரிசையில் வந்த இறுதி மூவியாகவும் இருந்தது.
I watched this movie last week and liked it a lot.	நான் இந்த மூவியினைக் கடந்த வாரம் பார்த்தேன், எனக்கு அது மிகவும் பிடித்திருந்தது.
UNDERSTANDING CONCEPTS	கருத்துக்களைப் புரிந்துகொள்தல்
In the previous conversation, you heard sentences from both the Simple Past Tense and Past Continuous Tense.	முந்தைய உரையாடலில், Simple Past Tense and Past Continuous Tense ஆகிய இரண்டிலிருந்தும் நீங்கள் வாக்கியங்களைக் கேட்டீர்கள்.
Simple Past Tense is used to talk about  those actions that happened in the past.	Simple Past Tense ஆனது கடந்த காலத்தில் நடைபெற்ற செயல்களைப் பற்றிப் பேசுவதற்குப் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகின்றது.
Past Continuous is used to talk about those actions that were in progress in the past.	Past Continuous ஆனது கடந்த காலத்தில் செயல்பாட்டில் இருந்த செயல்களைப் பற்றிப் பேசுவதற்குப் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகின்றது.
When we use these two forms in the same sentence, we use:	இந்த இரு வடிவங்களையும் ஒரே வாக்கியத்தில் நாம் பயன்படுத்தும்போது, இவ்வாறாக நாம் பயன்படுத்துகின்றோம்:
Past Continuous:  to talk about actions that were in progress in the past.	Past Continuous: கடந்த காலத்தில் செயல்பாட்டில் இருந்த செயல்களைப் பற்றிப் பேசுவதற்கு.
and	மற்றும்
Past Simple :    to talk about action that were completed in the past.	Past Simple :  கடந்த காலத்தில் நிறைவு பெற்றுவிட்ட செயல்களைப் பற்றிப் பேசுவதற்கு.
Difference between  Simple Past & Past Continuous	Simple Past & Past Continuous ஆகியவற்றிற்கு இடையிலான வித்தியாசம்.
action that happened in the past	கடந்த காலத்தில் நடைபெற்ற செயல்
action that was in progress in the past	கடந்த காலத்தில் செயல்பாட்டில் இருன்ட செயல்
I played football.	நான் ஃபுட்பால் விளையாடினேன்.
I was playing football.	நான் ஃபுட்பால் விளையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தேன்.
I was playing football when it started to rain.	மழை பெய்யத் துவங்கியபோது நான் ஃபுட்பால் விளையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தேன்.
They came home.	அவர்கள் வீட்டிற்கு வந்தார்கள்.
They were coming home.	அவர்கள் வீட்டிற்கு வந்து கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
I was watching a movie when you came home.	நீங்கள் வீட்டிற்கு வந்த போது நான் ஓர் மூவியினைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன்.
He met her.	அவன் அவளைச் சந்தித்தான்.
He was meeting her.	அவன் அவளைச் சந்தித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.
I was taking shower when you called me.	நீங்கள் என்னை அழைத்த போது நான் குளித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன்.
I bought a watch yesterday	நேற்று நான் ஓர் கைக்கடிகாரத்தை வாங்கினேன்.
She was at her friend's house.	அவள் தனது தோழியின் வீட்டில் இருந்தாள்.
She was reading a poem.	அவள் ஓர் செய்யுளை வாசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தாள்.
I was writing a letter.	நான் ஓர் கடிதத்தினை எழுதிக் கொண்டிருந்தேன்.
He/ she taught me to speak English.	அவன் / அவள் எனக்கு ஆங்கிலத்தில் பேசக் கற்றுக் கொடுத்தாள்.
I was busy.	நான் வேலையாக இருந்தேன்.
I was there.	நான் அங்கே இருந்தேன்.
They stayed in the hotel.	அவர்கள் ஹோட்டலில் தங்கினார்கள்.
They were staying in the hotel.	அவர்கள் ஹோட்டலில் தங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
They were playing in the park.	அவர்கள் பார்க்கில் விளையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
